The new 2016 Arctic Cat Alterra 450 hits the dirt with the most complete combination of class-leading suspension, load capacity, horsepower and comfort, plus the added performance and consistency of a liquid-cooled 450 engine. Matched by all-new bodywork and rack system, it’s a machine that excels in every category of performance, usability and dependability.
The new sculpted fenders, head- lights and grille maximize ergonomics and durability, and are narrow enough to maneuver through the tight woods yet protect you from mud and water spray. New front and rear composite racks are impact-resistant and offer 75-lb./150-lb. front/rear capacities. Full-length composite floorboards enhance sure-footed traction while the low seat height increases rider comfort and control.
At its heart is a powerful liquid- cooled 443cc SOHC 4-stroke engine with Electronic Fuel Injection for easy-start- ing, do-it-all performance. Its Duramatic automatic transmission features Engine Breaking System (EBS) and Hi/Lo range with neutral and reverse. Electronic-selectable 2/4-wheel drive adds traction when you need it most.
The ultra-tough chassis is light- weight in comparison to its mid- and full- sized competition, which translates into rider-friendly handling. It features dual A-arm, fully independent rear suspension and double A-arm front, both with pre-load-adjustable shocks and seven inches of suspension travel. Ground clearance is 10 inches, which coupled with 25-in. front and rear Kenda Pathfinder tires on 12-in. rims, give riders the confidence to tackle any terrain.
Standard equipment includes a 2-in. “automotive style” receiver hitch, 1,050-lb. towing capacity, hydraulic disc brakes, digital instrument pod and Start-In-Gear capability.
