For the entry-level consumer, Polaris introduced the new 2016 Polaris Sportsman 450 H.O., which delivers great power and performance for just $5,999 U.S. The 2016 Polaris Sportsman 450 H.O.’s smooth, reliable and proven Prostar engine delivers 31 horsepower offering full-size capability at a 400cc class price.
The 2016 Polaris Sportsman 450 H.O. also features Polaris’ On-Demand, True All-Wheel Drive System (AWD) which engages all four tires when the rear wheels slip and more traction is needed, and automatically reverts back to 2WD when it’s not needed. The Sportsman 450 H.O. has a 180 lbs./81.6 kg capacity rear steel rack and 90 lbs./40.8 kg. front rack that is Lock & Ride® compatible along with 1225 lbs./557.7 kg of towing capacity. To run more electrical accessories, the vehicle has a 660 watt stator, and industry-exclusive integrated plow and winch mounts. For high-dust areas, the vehicle also features a high- flow, high-capacity air filter for better dust filtration.
The 2016 Polaris Sportsman 450 H.O. features the proven MacPherson Strut front suspension with 8.2 in/20.8 cm of travel; and an Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) with 9.5 in/24.1 cm of rear travel with softer suspension springs for a better ride. With 10.5 in/26.6 cm of ground clearance and 24 in/61 cm tires, the Sportsman 450 H.O. can maneuver over trail obstacles with ease while a new seat with more foam and durable seat base keeps the operator more comfortable. The Sportsman 450 H.O. will be available in Sage Green and Velocity Blue.
