CV Man Heavy-Duty Axles Review

Destruction of the axles and CV joints in our test SxS units has always happened at the most unexpected times. The stock axles are only built to handle easy recreational use from unmodified engines. It is no secret that we aren’t easy on our battlewagons, and racing over large rocks in rough terrain or digging into the thick mire of a swamp puts untold stresses on any driveline. The stock CV axles just can’t hold up to the abuse, and we deduced this really quickly as we stood staring aimlessly into the fender wells of our machine trying to figure out which part went where.

Breaking an axle on the trail isn’t really bad, but it’s no walk in the park when you’re down one wheel. This set off a search for affordable heavy-duty replacement axles.

While there are many companies to choose from, there is a significant price difference for what you get. We found a company that had an affordable price and strength we needed to get our Prowler rolling on all fours once again. The CV Man is a Maryland-based company that has over 20 years experience in the CV axle business and offers replacement axles for almost every make and model of SxS. You don’t have to buy four axles if you don’t want to, but in my opinion that is like going to the gym and working to strengthen only one arm. We opted to replace all four as the thought of having a strengthened driveline gave much more confidence in our machine. The heavy-duty monster axles from the CV Man are made from 4340 chrome-moly and are almost one inch in diameter, making the stock axles seem like twigs in comparison. They also have thicker CV boots to add to the toughness of the entire assembly.
