The Greatest ATV Products & Technologies of All-Time

An Ovation For Innovation

Fasstco Flexx Bars

Ever see a tree bend in the wind? They bend, so they don't break. Handlebars have always been designed to bend. But Fasst Company's Flexx bars were the first to offer "tunability" into their bars. By swapping out elastomers, the bars are permitted to flex more or less, depending on the application.ATV Rider

Electric Power Steering (EPS)

Electric Power Steering (EPS): What came first, the chicken or the egg? Hell....I don't know. What I do know is that Yamaha was the first to bring EPS to the masses, and it arrived on the 2007 Yamaha Grizzly 700 EPS. EPS accounts for vehicle speed, rider input, and steering resistance to dial in just the right amount of steering assist. In 2016, every ATV manufacturer worth a hill of beans makes EPS because power steering reduces rider fatigue, reacts to obstacles that might sneak up on the rider, and ultimately increases safety.ATV Rider

Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)

Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT): Growing up, I never would have imagined longing for a CVT. Instead, rowing through the gears took me to my happy place. Fast forward a few years and my appreciation of the CVT has grown immensely. CVT's are simple to operate, , fairly easy to service, and they can handle TONS of power as long as you're able to keep the belt cool enough.ATV Rider

Tireballs and TireBlocks

Tireballs and TireBlocks: Anybody who's ever raced off-road knows one of the biggest challenges used to be completing the race without suffering a flat tire. Several years ago, Tireballs was the first company to introduce a flat preventing technology by stuffing the tires full of puncture resistant balls that fill the inside of the tires. Several years ago, another company called Tireblocks entered the market with their own flat protection system. Instead of inflatable balls, the Tireblock system employs styrofoam "blocks" that fill the void inside of the tire.ATV Rider

Two-Stroke Power Valve

Two-Stroke Power Valve: The only moving parts inside a basic two-stroke engines are the crankshaft, the connecting rod, and the piston. The design is simple and lightweight. However, basic two-strokes are inherently inefficient in both fuel economy and emissions. Herein lies the importance of the power valve. The power valve varies the length and width of the exhaust port, which broadens the delivery of power over a broader rpm range. Power valve engines are responsible for making two-strokes much easier to ride while also cleaning up emissions and minimizing fuel consumption.ATV Rider

Goggle Rolloff system

Goggle Rolloff System: Every major goggle manufacturer makes a canister-style lens film system to keep rider vision clear in even the toughest of systems. They all call it something different, but the basic idea is to pull a thin film of plastic across the goggle lens and essentially, keep the lens free of mud and debris. If you race MX or trail ride, you might not need these. But if you're a GNCC or HareScramble fiend, these is a must have!ATV Rider

Precision Steering Stabilizer

Precision Steering Stabilizer: I'm not sure who first invented the rotary steering stabilizer. What I do know is when it comes to putting a stabilizer on an ATV, nobody does it better than Precision. With mounting kits that fit virtually every popular ATV like a glove, high speed twitchiness in no more thanks to Precision.ATV Rider

OMF Beadlocks

OMF Beadlocks: In 2016, there are so many different types of beadlock wheels available for ATV's and UTV's that it often gets confusing which to go with. Years ago...it just wasn't that way. The originators and undoubtedly the toughest and most customizable beadlock wheel manufacturer around is OMF Performance. If you can dream it, they can manufacture it and customize everything from diameter, offset, modularity, colors, and other custom features to set your ride apart from the rest.ATV Rider

Fox Float Shocks

Fox Float Shocks: Fox has a very unique product within the industry knows as the Float shock. Instead of using a typical coil spring like every other manufacturer, Fox utilizes air pressure as a replacement for the coil spring. The Floats are rebuildable, revalveable, infinitely adjustable, and much lighter than a typical shock due to the absence of a heavy coil spring.ATV Rider

Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI)

Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI): If you've ever spent any amount of time dealing with carburetor jetting, you truly understand how much of a Godsend EFI actually is. Accounting for temperature, altitude, and other atmospheric conditions that affect combustion, the system basically figures out how to make gasoline go BOOM the most efficient way possible, given all of the constraints of the given environment. This means easier starting, more power, and better performance at all elevations.ATV Rider

Independent Rear Suspension (IRS)

Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) was perfected by Polaris in the mid 1990's and used on the wildly popular Sportsman 500. Today it is used by every manufacturer on their 4X4's and even some sport quads. It provides a much more comfortable ride than a straight axle set up as well as adding to ground clearance. The system adds weight and complexity but has proven to be super reliable and virtually maintenance free.ATV Rider
