Our friends over at Powersports Business recently highlighted a unique Polaris Sportsman build over in the United Kingdom. McLaren Tractors has a long history of working with a hunting group named Alba Deer Stalking. The folks at Alba have a fleet of Polaris ATVs and UTVs that they rely on to get in and out of the backcountry with their gear and game. The hunters started off many years ago with a Polaris Ranger. Most recently, a need for mobility has moved them to Sportsman ATVs.
That’s where McLaren Tractors comes into play with its skilled machine shop. McLaren went to work customizing Alba’s latest tool, a Polaris Sportsman 6x6 570 EPS. It fashioned complete underbody and A-arm skid plates and a multiposition winch system. The winch slips into either a front-bumper-mounted receiver or a bed-mounted winch receiver. The idea was to prevent a rider from being stranded but also assist a single person in lifting cargo up into the Sportsman Big Boss’ bed.
It’s a unique system we at ATV Rider haven’t seen in practice. We suspect it’s indispensable in the field aiding the Alba team in their quest for trophies.
