Thrashed: Dragon Alliance MDX Privateer Goggle

**When it comes to goggles, I can be what some might consider a snob. **When I find a pair of goggles that fits my face right I stick with them because I don’t want to deal with the hassle of dirt and dust getting into my eyes while I’m riding or endure a frame that puts uncomfortable pressure on my face. I recently took a trip to the Oregon coast for some epic dune riding in Winchester Bay and was given a pair of the Dragon MDX Privateer goggles. To say I was skeptical about these would be an understatement, but I took a liking to the blue matte finish that make them look pretty darn cool. I put them up to my face and the frame seemed a bit on the small side, but the foam felt pretty comfortable and there wasn’t any immediate discomfort around the nose area.

The time came to saddle up and ride, so I geared up and slid the goggles over my Fly Racing lid. When I first did this, I started to question whether I had received a youth goggle because the strap seemed to struggle to slide over my XL helmet. I pulled them off and set the strap to the largest adjustment possible, which worked fine but still seemed on the tight side compared to any other goggle I’ve ever tried. I would have thought this would cause the goggles to really be tight on the face, but surprisingly enough they were still comfortable. After a full day of riding I never experienced any discomfort with these goggles and never had any fine sand particles penetrate the foam and get into my eyes. In fact, these goggles were so sealed they seemed to fog up quicker, so applying some kind of an automotive anti-fog solution would make them almost perfect.

To sum these goggles up, awesome is a good single-word description. Their $44.95 price tag makes them comparably priced to some of the more popular goggle lines on the market and delivers equal if not better protection than those models as well. - Eli Madero
