Thrashed: Wash-15 Whip Mount

It never seems to fail for me. Every time I head out to the dunes to shred the sand with friends and family, I snap my fiberglass whip at least once. Making things worse is that most conventional whip mounts, quick-release or not, usually require me to shove the whip back into a tight-fitting bolt-like clamping device that doesn't allow for the expanded size of the splintered whip. Aside from my frustration at not having the proper tools to cut the whip so I can securely remount it in the holder, the shards of fiberglass working their way into my hands have in the past definitely ruined a day of riding for me—until now.

The Wash-15 Whip Mount is a small black-anodized piece of aluminum designed to securely hold either a ¼- or 5⁄16-inch-diameter whip by clamping it from the sides and not the traditional pressure fit from threading a piece onto a bolt-style mount. The best part about this mount is that if you ever break your whip, all you need to do is simply open the clamp and slide it back in. Since it clamps from the sides, there is no need to try and slide the pole into a tight-fitting piece. I found this out on a recent trip to the dunes. No sooner had I got my quad up on all fours, then I had the whip remounted and was back on the gas in minutes. This was the simplest it has ever been for me to remount a busted whip, and I wasn't cussing up a storm because of fiberglass-filled hands. - Eli Madero
