VIAIR Heavy-Duty OnBoard Air Compressor For Your Truck, ATV & UTV

We installed VIAIR's Heavy-Duty Onboard Air Compressor on our 2015 GMC "Project ATV Toy Hauler" Sierra 1500 to use at the track, dunes or desert. It's 2.5 gallon air tank, 400C compressor and 150 PSI running pressure allows us to use air tools and fill up to 35-inch tires, which is perfect for ATV, UTV or truck tires.

VIAIR’s Heavy Duty Onboard Air System provides a very fast 33% duty cycle 400C compressor, 2.5 gallon air tank, and all components needed to install a working system right out of the box. The installation is not very difficult, but it's time consuming. You'll need to remove the front passenger seat, the right-side front and rear plastic molding, and pull up the carpet to install the tank and compressor. There is a perfect cavity for the air tank directly under the front passenger seat, and another great location between the front and rear passenger seat for the compressor. Mounting is much easier with help from a friend..., otherwise, you'll need to use a jack to hold the compressor while you mark and drill the holes.

Wiring was simple. We ran the provided 12-gauge wire, with Inline fuse holder, up the frame rail, using zip-ties, to the battery. Fortunately, the battery sits just above the frame rail on the 2015 GMC Sierra. Before hooking up the wire to the battery, we installed the pressure switch, with relay, to the air tank, along with the safety valve and drain cock Obviously, the drain valve needs to go on the bottom of the tank, and the safety valve needs to go towards the top. We mounted the the air gauge / switch under the passenger seat for easy access, then ran wire from the gauge to the pressure switch. We also needed to drill a hole to run an air line from the top of the air tank to the back of the air gauge /switch.

The Heavy-Duty kit comes with an accessory airline, which we ran from a shut-off valve on the air tank (not provided) to the provided air chuck which we installed on the accessible side of the rear bumper. It was easy to run, and the rear location allows us to use the truck bed as an air-supplied workbench.

It's easy access to air, with the added benefit of air tools, has been very helpful at the dunes, desert or motocross track. We'd highly recommend this setup for the weekend warrior!
